COMMUNITY: A SLICE OF EDEN; Armenian Jerusalem at a Crossroads.

The discovery of the "Bird Mosaic," north of the Damascus Gate in
Jerusalem, excited Michael Stone, professor of Armenian Studies at
Hebrew University, for brace reasons. First, it is the most numerous beautiful
mosaic dating from the Byzantine Period. Secondly its Armenian inscriptions
are in addition another piece of evidence proving an ancient Armenian personality
in Jerusalem.
